Apparently there is news floating around the web about a stack of Bibles being burned during a protest in Portland. How awful is that? It supports every perception about Antifa, rioters, the crazy left. Except it is not true. Not totally. It does appear that one or two Bibles were burned. Which is not good but better than a whole stack being used as fuel for a bonfire. Cruz and Donny Junior tweeted about it. It looks like some conservative news outlets/blogs picked it up, too.
Seems as though our friends the Russians are behind the video and the hype.
It is a reminder to me that I need to be diligent about the news I consume especially when it is inflammatory. How is Reuters covering the story? The WSJ? Fox News? NYT? Even the USA Today?
Reminds me of the lesson I learned in the sixth grade about writing a "theme;" it is good to let it marinate overnight. So it is with the news - need to check out several sources before I have a reaction.
