Big Lake To Madras And Some Golf To Sisters

Sisters, Oregon

June 28, 2021

I got an early start this morning and left Big Lake by 5:30 am. I would have preferred to sleep some more but the sky was getting light and I couldn’t fall back to sleep. I was amazed that it had cooled down to 59 degrees ( the Sequoia thermometer read 55 degrees.)

My first destination was Madras some 70 miles away. US 20 to US 97 in Redmond and then north Madras. The odometer read

The almost full moon was still out.

Rather odd.

Out of the forest and into the high desert (> 3,000 feet).

These air blowers at car washes are so cool!

Peak Finder app thanks to Coach Harris.

Mount Hood is 70 miles away but still stands out on the horizon.

Madras has an air museum. Of course it does.

Of course I broke out my Longshanks flag — madras in Madras!

A lax plate!

I was disappointed the city 9-hole golf course wasn’t called “Madras Golf Course.” But I put on my madras shorts anyway. 🤪

Mt. Hood in the background.

High desert golf - flat. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Course is watered using effluent from the city.

Temperature when I started snd when I finished. I walked five holes and got a cart for the last four holes.

Not a great nine — five over par, one double bogey. As usual, trouble around the greens.
