In the past when I have thought of Utah, which was infrequently, I thought of the Great Salt Lake and the Salt Flats. No more. Southern Utah is a masterpiece of nature. Vast, empty, spectacular.


My $35 per night camping spot outside of Bryce Canyon National Park. The diispersed camping was closed for the season,

I drove to the end of Utah Route 12 and then turned left onto US 89. As you can see, the terrain changed. More pastureland than rugged canyons and mountains.

Even the clouds are spectacular out here.

I like the economy of this sign. No separate signs for the different type of wildlife -- just all on one. I was left wondering how frequently the wildlife cross the road. And is it 10 miles exactly or might there be some wildlife outside of the 10 mile range.
