Ed’s Fly Shop

Montrose, Colorado

October 14, 2020

Since I’ve been in Colorado. I’ve been thinking about trying out fly fishing. I belong to a rod & gun club back in Virginia but that’s spin casting for bass. I have watched folks fly fish and it looks very Zen.

So with trepidation that I would embarrass myself, I walked into Ed’s Fly Shop yesterday in downtown Montrose. What a great experience! Ed could not have been nicer and set me up with all the basic equipment I need - rod (Echo) reel (Lamson), set up the reel, flies, tipit. He gave me a tutorial on the psychology of a trout so I can attempt to out think them.

I am now set to embarrass myself as I try to master the casting technique. And what happens if I actually catch a trout?
