I'm not sure why I haven't learned yet that every day I travel is going to overwhelm my senses. I looked at my map this morning and my intuition told me "boring drive." Yet here I am two hours in, probably driven 60 miles as I am constantly stopping to take photos.
I'm afraid my photos won't capture what I am experiencing. While I have seen some corn fields (all with center pivot sprinklers), 95 percent of what I have seen is unkept pasture land. I've seen more cattle than horses but not a lot of either. I've probably seen as many windmills as cars. Windmills as in water for the animals. I guess these are the Sand Hills -- it's beautiful rolling topography. Like sand dunes covered with grasses.
I've come across two communities (this bring the second) since leaving North Platte. And maybe I've seen a handful of houses out by themselves.
North Platte is at 2800 feet; I've hit 3,000 feet out here. I thought it was more of an elevation change.

It is truly something to behold. Well beyond description. Makes you feel so tiny...
My favorite experience was to be "out there" several times when I could see a thunderstorm forty, fifty, sixty miles away -- it was like looking into a terrarium and being able to see the storm in cross-section. Dynamic and awe-inspiring don't cut it. Then, all of a sudden, you realize that the storm is headed straight for you at fifty or sixty MPH . . . and you try to get beyond its reach.
You have inspired me to make a Texas Tour in April or May next year, then a Western Tour in July or August Lord willin'.
