Merci, Paris! 😁
December 3, 2019
Have you ever seen such an awesome display of Christmas spirit? This photo is of the courthouse in the square of Paris, Arkansas. Not only is there a lot of Christmas spirit in this town of less than 4,000 folks, there is a pride that matches that spirit.
From the ladies at the Logan County library to the folks at the embroidery store to the cashier at Walmart #230 to the manager of McDonalds to the owner of the Subway franchise to the folks at the store on the square who had some great Eiffel Tower merchandise to the staff at the Mt. Magazine lodge, I have met wonderful people. Folks who greeted me with a smile, who looked me in the eye, and who took time to share their stories with me. And who wished me well on my walkabout.
Thank you Paris for welcoming this stranger from Virginia. As I told one of the librarians, I am a loss for words - in this case, to express my gratitude for your hospitality and for sharing your spirit and pride with me.
I hope my journey brings me back this way, perhaps when the nights aren’t quite so cold! Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2020.
