Missing From The Issue

Charlottesville

A couple of powerful articles in the NYT regarding the overturning on Roe.

What I don’t get is the complete a absence of the role of men in this issue. As the saying goes, it takes “two to tango.” Men who impregnate women who get an abortion should be held to the same standard as the women. Abortion as a conspiracy.

We men are being held unaccountable; that’s not right.

there are a couple of points i do not hear in the discussion about the abortion issue. i don't subscribe to the NYT so i can't read the articles. for those that take the position (there are many more than just 2) that says "my body my choice" that seems to have left men out of the equation. if that is their position then why would the father be responsible (from a legal perspective, not moral) for child support if a woman chooses to have a child w/o the man's consent? concurrently, if a woman chooses to have an abortion w/o the father's consent, why would the father be held to any legal jeopardy at all?

😀. There are a lot of nuances! I like trying to write down my thoughts — sometimes it’s a challenge to find the right words. I appreciate our dialogue. Some fun Las say “don’t go there” but if we don’t go there then we never get anywhere. I know a lot of folks don’t care for Jim Ryan (UVA President). But he has a great book called “Wait! What?” about among other things, finding common ground. I view the chaos that we are experiencing as an opportunity to find answers and clarity — oh, an understanding. There is not enough that going around these days.
