Claybanks Township Park

Today I am posting about my travel today — as opposed to my usual approach of posting the next day.
I didn’t make it to my goal of Paris, Michigan — I got sidetracked by driving along Lake Michigan. By that, I don’t mean the highway goes along the coastline because it does not. But at intervals I was in coastside towns — particularly Whitehall.
This part of Michigan is rural and remote (judging by the sporadic cell phone coverage). It has the feel of rural Maine.
Came across a golf course near Lake Michigan and took advantage of the opportunity to play nine holes (of the 27 at the course). The course was in great condition and a fun challenging layout with doglegs and small greens. I hit the ball well but narrow fairways meant I was hitting (chopping) out of thick rough. Grass must really like the growing conditions of this area! A local told me it never gets much hotter than the low 80s; yesterday was in the mid 50s.
I found a campsite along Lake Michigan for $30. No view of the lake from my site but a short 300 yard walk to an overlook.
New business in Whitehall, MIchigan. I was their first customer. -- ever!
An old Chevy sig.
