Not So Fast

Phoenix, Arizona

February 21, 2020

Your first time in an In-N-Out Burger restaurant, you might think the menu looks rather simple. (By the way, that was one of the original ideas behind Wendy's - to have a simple menu to cut down on inventory. They came up with chili as a way to use up aging burgers. Boy, have they gotten away from that original idea!  🤣)

But In-N-Out has a "secret menu" that allows you to enhance your experience should you so choose. Given that I have entered the "In-N-Out Burger Zone," I figured I should polish up on my knowledge of the secret menu. There are more options than I realized! Not sure I'll go for "animal style" but the "wish burger" and "protein style" both look like winners!

Shakes and Drinks Options

The Neopolitan Shake – Mix of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.

Black and White - Also known as the Chocolate-Vanilla Swirl, this shake combines vanilla and chocolate ice cream.

Around the World – Combines all of the shake flavors.

Root Beer Float – Classic drink with a 1:1 ice cream to root beer ratio or any ratio you wish.

Arnold Palmer - Lemonade mixed with iced tea.

LemonUp – Lemonade and a splash of 7Up.

Large Shake - The shakes come in one size - unless you ask for a large shake.

Vegetarian Options

Grilled Cheese - Two slices of melted American cheese, leaves of lettuce, tomato slices, and In-N-Out spread between a freshly baked bun. It can also be served with or without onions or pickles.

Cheesy Wiki - Four slices of cheese between a toasted bun instead of two.

Wish Burger - Lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and spread in a toasted bun.

No Carb Options

Protein Style - Classic burger with cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato, spread, and pickles served without the bun and wrapped in lettuce.

Scooby Snack - Treat your dog to a snack with the Scooby Snack, which is a single grilled patty.

The Flying Dutchman - Two slices of melted cheese between two grilled burger patties.

The Flying Dutchman Animal Style - Diced onions between the cheese.

Meat Lovers Options

3x3 or 4x4 - Classic In-N-Out burger with 3 or 4 patties.

Mustard Grilled Patty - More flavorful than the regular burger patty.

Animal Style Burger - Mustard grilled patty, grilled onions, pickles, and cheese.

Whole Grilled Onion Burger - Instead of topping the burger with chopped grilled onions, you can get it with a whole circular grilled onion.

Fries Options

Animal Style Fries - Topped with cheese, diced grilled onions, and special sauce.

Well Done or Light Well Fries – Ask to have them well done, or order light well fries which are crunchy but not overcooked.

Cheese Fries - Fries smothered in melted cheese.

Extras Options

Pepper It Up - Along with the usual toppings, you can also add pickled peppers.

Medium Rare - You can order your burger medium rare.

Cut It In Half - Ask for your burger cut in half.

Cold Cheese- A burger with cold cheese.

RIP Dickey Betts

Growing up so close to Macon, Georgia I heard a lot of Allman Brithrrs as a teenager. When asked why the Allman Brothers Band had two drummers, Greg Allman answered that if it was good enough for Jame
