November 19, 2022 Custer To Nemo To Deadwood To Lead To Custer

Quite a day. I thought I would take a leisurely trip to Deadwood as I had seem that it had a number of well-maintained old buildings. But I saw a road sign for Nemo and of course had to take that detour -- which involved a bit of four-wheel action on snow covered dirt roads. Deadwood overwhelmed me as I will discuss when I post about it -- beautiful buildings, gambling and day drinking. I spent 2-3 hours walking around the town. I returned through Lead, which is a mile or two from Deadwood. I took a wrong turn and to get back on the right road I had to drive several National Forest roads. I stopped at Pactola Lake on the way and eventually arrived back in Custer. Grabbed some frozen dinners at the very nice local grocery store and returned to my motel for dinner while I downloaded my photos.

Tomorrow I will write about what I saw today. Now it's time to relax and listen to a book about the development and construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. Tired from the walking and the cold (it never got above 32 degrees today).
