On The Beach With Charlie Brown

Many Sundays between 1 and 4 pm, I listen to the Carolina beach music show hosted by Charlie Brown on www.949thesurf.com. Mister Brown plays the beach tunes we listened to in the 1970s and early 1980s - what I consider to be classic beach music.

Last night I received a voicemail from the 919 area code. I didn’t recognize the number but when I listened to the voicemail, I recognized the voice — it was Charlie Brown. He asked me to call him which I just did. He wanted to thank me for a note I wrote him in 2019 where I told him how much I enjoy the show.

He told me today he is 80 years old and has done 970 On The Beach broadcasts. He said he is looking forward to hitting 1,000. He said feedback from folks like me keeps him going.

Made my day. Reminds me why I say thank you.
