It is hard for me to wrap my head around the dichotomy of the Native American reservations and Deadwood. There is such despair on the reservations (in many cases). Yet Deadwood thrives to because people have extra money (debatable in some cases) just be entertained. I understand that the state "runs" Deadwood; I wonder if any money goes to help the Native Americans? I don't think so, other than what goes to supporting schools.
I don't know if this is statewide, but the schools here are on a four-day week. Like everywhere else, Custer is short employees. Everyone I've talked to has said the teenagers don't want to work. Might be a good way to develop a work ethic??
I'm just an old man expressing my opinion.
I don't know what you mean by "the state" runs Deadwood.....
And, things are depressing and without hope on the reservations because most of them prohibit the ownership of private property and small businesses. How is there any hope in a society in which one cannot work to build something for himself and his family?
