Ernie Banks is remembered for his quote, ""It's a beautiful day for a ballgame. Let's play two today!" Following Mister Banks' lead, while I known I have probably written about the Tams early in my walkabout, I love them so much, I'm writing about them again.
Today's journey involved attempting to complete my Tams' collection of tunes. With the albums from Tom, downloads from YouTube and finding missing 45s on discogs, I will go to sleep tonight knowing that I will soon have a complete collection. James Brown. And thanks to Ron Wiltsie for providing me a list of Tams' tunes that he was looking for.
The video above is of a song I found today. A rare Joe Pope ballad. Direct hit to my soul. I love the message, and I love his vocals. Goosebumps.
Along the way today, I found this article about the Tams.
Still haven't found the answer to my question as to why Joe Pope sings "Be young, be foolish, but be happy." I guess somethings are meant to be mysterious (like The Lawn versus The Yard.)
Here is Julius Cobb's version of his ballad:
And another Julius Cobb tune, "Excuse Me."
