I took the road less traveled from Aiken to Atlanta — US 278 or one of its tributaries until I got within 30 miles of ATL. At that point I jumped on I20.
US 278 took me through classic rural Georgia. Small towns like Harlem, Thomson and Crewfordville punctuated the drive — towns that have seen better days but still have a lot of character. i thought of how lucky I am to have the time to drive the backroads and avoid the pedal-to-the-metal drive on interstates.
