Arizona Route 87 Between Phoenix And Payson

If you ever get the chance to drive this route, your eyes will be happy that you did. It is not beautiful in the Virginia sense, nor the Colorado sense. But it is in the Southwest sense. You change altitude by about 6,000 feet with a corresponding change in temperature. When I left Payson an hour and 45 minutes ago it was 26 degrees. It is now more than double that (56 degrees) in Mesa/Phoenix.


I took almost all of the following photos through my windshield so I apologize for the tint the windshield adds. And they are out of chronological order. ☹️ I can only do so much on my iPhone!
