I heard the surf all night as I slept in my truck. Beautiful place to wake up.

There are seven oil rigs off the coast here. In a way they are pretty. But many of the rocks along the shore are stained by oil. The trade offs we allow others to choose for us as we consume the product of the rigs. Wish I could snap my fingers and make the rigs wind turbines and my truck an electric SUV. That wouldn’t work too well as there isn’t much wind here. Hopefully soon the US will have some offshore wind farms as they do in the rest of the world. The electricity they generate is more expensive, but I’m convinced that we can afford more expensive electricity. Who even knows how much they pay for electricity per unit? Granted we should help those who have limited funds, but I’d pay more for green power. Does $4 gas in California curb people driving? We stubbornly want what we want - to drive and cool our houses.
