Fortuna, California

June 7, 2021

I drove seven miles this morning from my campsite in Ferndale to Fortuna. Why? For a cell signal. I feel as though I am back in the early days of cell phones looking around for a cell tower.

I came across this Dollar General store. This chain’s prices are pretty hard to beat. I digress. I will let you in on a secret. In most of the country, Dollar General carries Tastykake’s cinnamon twirls. My intuitive self made the association and next thing I know I’m walking the aisles of the DG. No cinnamon twirls — nothing made by Tastykake! Every ultra-processed,sugary bad-for-you snack they had was by Hostess. Drats! My taste buds revolted.

But then my eyes fell on this package.

Airplane biscuits! For $2.50. My salvia spigot came back on as I rushed to the counter.

Yum.

Almost as tasty as a cinnamon twirl.
