I've coached with First Tee here in Charlottesville for the past three years. It has been a tremendously fun and rewarding experience. I've had a blast working with the kids and the other coaches - and I have learned a lot from the invaluable lessons taught by Coach Nicole and Coach Bruce. Perhaps my favorite lesson was one Coach Nicole taught to the kids about the voices in our heads that talk to us so negatively. I thought I was the only one who that happened to! Seriously, getting to work with Nicole and Bruce has been a blessing.
If you are not familiar with the First Tee, the goal of the organization is to positively impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. It has been around since 1997. There are 1,200 chapters and it has taught over 15 million kids.
I made the above video as part of the local chapter's effort to continue working with the kids during this time of sheltering in place. Coach Harris blew me away with his video which he made in his championship backyard. I'll just never have that coach/teacher manner that he honed up in Greenwich. 😀
