I applaud Mr. Igar's statement. If under Cirizen's companies can spend unlimited funds on elections shouldn't they be able to voice their opinions on legislation? Granted, there's a potential downside with their customers for doing that. I was surprised that there wasn't an outcry of authoritarian when Florida changed the Reedy Creek organization -- it sure looked like that to me.
Florida has a lot to loose if Disney changes it's plans to invest billions in Disney World. But I suspect the Florida government will try to punish Disney again. My bet is on Mickey winning in the long run. Disney is Disney because there are a lot of really smart people there.
Agree.
The state of Florida also has the right to visit/revisit government policies/rules/regulations and laws (PRRL) I had spent some time reading about the special district created for just for Disney. From what i read (by no means the totality of information about this issue), it seemed as though they were getting a sizeable pass on taxes and complying with those governmental PRRL to which other companies had to adhere. So to me the question is how long should Disney get those breaks? The state decided to change the status quo.
My first boss Colonel Lutman advised me a pig doesn't squeal until it has been squeezed.
