Mr. Boyles [Charlottesville city manager]-

What must visitors think as they walk along our beautiful Pedestrian Mall and see the eyesore of the unfinished Landmark Hotel. A landmark it has become — and not a good one.

I have walked by the structure so many times I’ve become immune to its ugliness. This morning I happened to look up and see the banner on the front. “Coming Summer 2009.” Ha! Not only is it an eyesore, it’s an eyesore that no one even cares enough about to remove a tattered banner from at least 12 years ago. Embarrassing for the city. Embarrassing for Mr. Dewberry.

Lucian Fox
