I encourage you to read the comments to Mister Jenkins recent article (link below — requires a subscription).
What surprises me is the comments about being lied to, misled by science and some cases apparent denial. I understand those comments coming from a segment of our society but these are WSJ readers. By that I mean I make the assumption that WSJ readers tend toward highly educated and successful. While they also tend toward being conservative, they do not tend toward unfounded beliefs.
No doubt our government made missteps in protecting us. Maybe I’m naive but I believe the “mainstream” scientists and doctors have given us the best advice based on their understanding at the time.
