Hidden Hills

I first heard this expression, appropriately, when I worked at the Department of Energy. We would toil away at some task with the drive and focus as though we were pursuing world peace. Only to realize that we were no more than a hamster on its wheel.

The insight of this statement has stayed with me. It has helped me to avoid wasting my time -- is doing this activity going to move me closer to my goal or only going to make me think that I'm moving closer to my goal?
