This word is the one I have been searching for! At least the "transitive" verb version. It seems to me that I have become inured to so much. Boastful politics, politicians lying to me. The unfinished building on the Charlottesville downtown mall. Inured -- my word of the year!

Funny how the two defintions are nearly opposites. You to can get used to something undesirable or something can become an advantage.
