I assumed that "Jack Mack" was the name of the lead singer of the band. As usual with my assumptions, I was wrong. Jack Mack was the nickname of the original drummer for the band. He left the group in 1987 and died from cancer in the 1990s.
A historical factoid; Jack Mack & The Heart Attack were performing at Centennial Park in Atlanta for the 1996 Olympics when the bomb exploded in the park.
