Hilton Head

May 15, 2025

There is a real sense of community watching sunrise on the beach. You’ve got your walkers, joggers and a few folks riding bikes. You’ve got couples, families, groups of young people (mostly girls), and singles. There are professional photographers taking family photos. And dogs. Not everyone is taking photos of the sunrise — maybe 50 percent. Of those 50 percent, 95 percent are using their phones. The other 5 percent are using big boy cameras. I admire those folks because the lighting is so tricky; my iPhone takes much better sunrise photos than I can get with my Nikon.

Something magical about watching the sun come up over the water. It is inspiring to see a new day start so beautifully.

That inspiration may not translate into lots of walking for me today. I logged over 20,000 steps yesterday. My left hip is tight this morning as are my left piraformis and left psoas. I probably should trade walking in for stretching today. But will I?

Last full day of vacation. Always bittersweet. 😕
