“May I Be Excused …”

I posted this cartoon yesterday but did not explain why.

Yesterday, and many days out here, at the end of the day I am mentally spent. And I think it is because of all the information I take in. Taking photos to capture the physical town, wondering why the town is the way it is, dealing with the emotions of seeing towns that have seen better days, wondering why folks congragated in a certain place, why are there so many churches, where do folks buy their groceries -- all these thoughts and questions give my mind a workout!

Regarding photos, it is interesting that I avoid taking photos of people. Perhaps it makes the scene too personal. I almost always avoid taking photos of someone's home if it is in a sad state of repair -- I feel like I am invading and judging if I do that.

I have taken a lot of photos over the past couple of weeks. I enjoy trying to capture how things used to be and angles that others might not see if they were just walking by.
