Merit, Excellence And Intelligence

I am for merit, excellence and intelligence just as I am diversity, equity and inclusion. The far-right press takes anything not hatched by them and ridicules it. In my humble opinion with far more vitriol (and effectiveness) than when the far-left press is critical of ideas not hatched by them.

All six concepts are worthwhile and they are not mutually exclusive.

We need to stop all this hate, ridicule, exclusion and division. We need to replace it with peace, understanding and dialogue. But we won’t. Because half of us have elected a man who is a spoiled child, who criticizes without understanding.

In my bad dreams, I hope we get the country Trump and his sycophants want. (Trump only wants what people tell him will make him popular with his base.) Maybe then people will realize that we are worse off as a country.
