Walmart

North Platte, Nebraska

November 12, 2022

I was just in Walmart picking up my essentials -- grapes and crackers. There was a young couple with two youngster -- probably Five and three. One of the youngsters said she wanted Oreos. The mom said

"We don't have money for Oreos today."

My heart stopped. Sure it could have been the mom's way to deflecting the kid's want. But what if it were true which I'm guessing it likely was.

The rational me knows that's the truth for millions of families. The kids will survive. But I don't recall ever being hit so forcefully by ... I'm not even sure how to describe it.

Be generous. Be thankful. Be understanding.
