Ely, Nevada

December 12, 2022

I pulled these photos from a National Geographic article about the US 50 in Nevada. I saw that church in Baker. It was a cold overcast day and I could not envision the church looking the way it does in the photo. How the photographer caught that sunlight AND a break in the clouds showing the snow capped mountain -- it's magic.

Usually I divide photographers into ones who take landscapes and those who do portraits. Different skills. This photographer has both sets of skills. You don't need words to understand a lot about these people. Amazing photos.

Ha! Did National Geographic copy my technique of taking a photo from inside the car and showing the frame of the window? Shame on them for copying me!

It's all about the light. And I suspect some Photoshop.
