I have lost track of how many days I have been here in Custer. I have been north of town, and west of town, but until today I had not been east and south of town. I'm glad I "went over that bridge." I spent a highlight day visiting Wind Cave National Park and Custer State Park.
I need to thank Chuck for the recommendation on the state park (he may have also recommended the national park). And the Koesters for their story of "never been over the bridge." I'm trying to make make sure I cross every "bridge" that I can!
One thing about this part of South Dakota -- it gets dark early! Sunset today is at 4:22 pm -- and we have another month of the daytime getting shorter!
Your dilemma of the early nightfall is the converse of why I like going out there in June and July -- you have ambiant light until 10:30 or 11, and dawn's first light by 3:30 or 4 (DST is the reason for the shift).
