Now You Tell Me!

Courtney’s high school had a wonderful motto — “Madeira girls have something to say.” I loved that — I felt it was empowering for the young women.
I guess I adopted that concept for my blog — as of this morning I have published 5,527 posts. I started my wanderabout approximately 2,130 days ago. You do the math.
I recall that originally I did not intend to keep a blog. That implies a conscious decision. It wasn’t that — it was more that it did not occur to me to keep a blog, or even a journal for that matter. But that changed just before I hit the road. I remember sitting in my friend Bruce’s office at the Boar’s Head. He asked me if I was (actually “were” might be the right word there to indicate the unlikeliness!) going to write a blog. My memory is that I said I hadn’t thought about that but maybe I should. I recall saying maybe I could post once per week. The rest is history — THANK YOU BRUCE!
I remembered that Wendy had used Wix for her blog so I did the same. It was easy to set up. I look at the structure I set up — a section for “where’s Lucian”, one for photos and videos — and realize how I quickly I morphed away from that structure. (I do wish I had kept up with “where’s Lucian’s because that summary would be fun to have. Instead I will need to rely on my Google Maps history to create a map of my wanderings. I haven’t done that yet for fear that will be a rabbit hole I will never find the end of.)
Random thought — I am wondering how many typos, thinkos, spelling errors and grammatical mistakes are in those 5,527 blog posts. A lot. I can try and justify that by saying I was tired, busy, blah blah blah. But laziness is to blame. I have never formed that simple habit of proof reading what I right (I caught myself there — write!) consistently. This is my mea culpa for all the errors I have forced you to read.
Hey Lucian, where the heck are you going with this?
I always assumed that it would be easy to go back and read my posts in chronological order. That’s what you can do with a journal, right? By now you know I have a favorite expression — “check your assumptions.” But I didn’t and now thanks to a question from my friends Pamela and Mark I find out that Wix is not set up to make that easy — in fact, it’s set up to make it hard to do. (Insert string of curse words.)
Bummer.
Based on my research this morning, it appears I can go back and assign posts to categories that will supposedly make it possible to search the blog posts. Maybe (assumption!) if I use the month and year of the posts, I can group the posts and read all the posts from say December 2020. I have added that task to my to do list — with the understanding I need to check my assumption(s) before going off and categorizing all 5,527 posts. 🤪
I’m also going to write Wix and encourage them to add an “ easy to read chronologically” feature to its design.
