Dave Grohl. From Annandale, Virginia. Dropped out of school at 16 to pursue his dream of becoming a musician. At 17 became the drummer in Nivana. After that band broke up, ended up cutting an album in which he sang and played all the instruments -- and issued it under the name Foo Fighters. The rest is history.
When I visited Cindy and Ken earlier this year, I learned that Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighter drummer) lived in their neighborhood with his family. Ken would see Taylor walking with his kids. Sad that he passed away. Yet another example of thinking someone has it all, not appreciating that we are all icebergs (most of us below the surface).
"Times Like These" was on the band's fourth album circa 2003. Incredible lyrics. I make the mistake of assuming rock n roll bands are about the music, not the lyrics. Wrong.
