Thanks to my friend Chuck Nesbit who made me aware of two historical Paris’ in North Carolina. On November 3, I visited the one located in Anson County. All I had to go on was geographical coordinates in found using Google.

Today there is no indication that there was ever a town named Paris at the location. This photo of Buddy and this screenshot from my phone are my proof that I was there.

I did find this brief description and maps as well as the role that Paris played in the making of the “Color Purple.”

There was once a community in Anson County named “Paris.” Just off Highway 52 heading south, the area was home to over 500 people and even had their own post office, where letters were marked “Paris, NC.” When the railway was moved, the area faded.
