A few weeks ago, there was a comment on a WSJ where a gentleman stated that Covid-19 originated in a Wuhan lab. I replied citing a recent John’s Hopkins report that indicated there is no definitive answer (yet?) to where the virus came from. I think my exact words were “I did not know there was consensus on the origin of the virus.” The reply I received was “now you know.”
I found that reply rather humorous. Some folks don’t need science.
Now I understand that there is disagreement on the origin. Each of us has heard enough information that we have an intuition as the origin. But intuition just means that we have pieced together pieces of information in a story that makes sense to us as individuals. That’s no substitute for science.
But I’ve gotten off the topic I really wanted to address. Whether the virus originated in a lab or a wildlife market, we know it originated in China. We also know that China early on suppressed news of virus at a critical time for other countries to prepare “their defenses.”
So why aren’t all countries holding China accountable for the economic damage the virus caused outside of China??
Perhaps I’m late to this conclusio, but I have no faith in China’s pronouncements anymore. Starting today I will try a not buy any products made in China — well, except the next iPhone.
i also do not assist the NBA for the same reason.
