One of my favorite stories is one told to me by my friends the Koesters. How they exited the interstate looking for a hotel for the evening and ended up asking a waitress if there was one over the bridge by the restaurant. Her response, "I've never been over that bridge."
I'm sure by now I have butchered that story beyond recognization. But the punch line is always the same -- and a lesson that I learned on my wanderabout. The lesson? Cross every bridge! And wander around where you are because you might just see something that amazes you.
With that story in mind, this morning I set out to visit Uno, Radiant and Scuffletown, Virginia. It was a beautiful fall day with a Colorado/Utah blue sky and enough color in the leaves to make me smile.
There wasn't much to any of these unincorporated places. Radiant was probably the highlight with its tiny post office with new hours posted in 2015. I also experienced a first while there. Most populated places have signs with the place's name as you enter the town from any direction. Radiant had two such signs -- but they were on the same pole! That's a small town!
