You gotta love a city that embraces its past. The Alien Abduction happened in 1947 and Roswell has not been the same since. It is a city of 50,000 people, the fifth largest in the state and from what I could see there is one alien for every five people.
I expected the souvenir stores to be on the outskirts of town; wrong, five or six downtown, open by 10 am on Sunday morning.
Roswell has a summer league baseball team - their name? The Invaders, of course. What color are their home uniforms? Right you are - lime green. The R on their hats has two eyes in the enclosed part of the R.
Roswell is the home of the New Mexico Military Institute. Roger Staubach is an alumnus. Demi Moore was born in Roswell; that explains a few things.
Roswell was even more than I expected.
I did find this welcoming sign a bit lacking in the alien spirit.
