September 30, 2024 -- A Day At Mt. Rainer National Park

What a day. As I have documented, I don't do much research, if any, before I visit someplace. For me, its not so much being lazy as wanting to be surprised. Almost always, that approach works well. Yesterday, while it worked out fine, I had a very long day because I did not know (1) how much driving is required to visit MRNP and (2) I did not appreciate that when going to MRNP, go to Paradise. Instead I started at Sunrise. Which was fine and included a nice hike. But if you want to see amazing scenery, go to Paradise. In my defense, Google Maps (I thought) indicated that from Puyallup to Paradise would be almost 4 hours. It's not. Now the way I did it -- through Sunrise -- made it almost that long.
