I'm not a church goer and for the most part when asked about my faith, I answer that I am spiritual. But that doesn't mean I have not inculcated values that I learned in the past from being Presbyterian, Episcopalian, Anglican and a some-time Catholic (having attended Catholic high school).

It occurred to me last week that I grew up only knowing about traditional churches -- such as the ones above. This whole evangelical wing (?) is something new to me in the past twenty years. I further realized that the evangelical movement, in my opinion, makes that those that participate in traditional churches feel like they are less Christian that those who are evangelical. The God that I know doesn't rank order His followers -- He just wants us to be good people who care for others. I'm not saying that to offend anyone -- it's just my personal take.

I watched some videos last week on Christianity -- the Bible, Jesus, Jews -- and smorgasbord of topics. I came away with some questions -- not looking for answers just now, more capturing my questions:

How am I supposed to reconcile The Flood that wiped out everything on earth except for what was in the Ark with the fact that there is no way Noah collected the species unique to say Australia. And if he and his family were the only ones saved, how am I to understand the history of say China, South America and Africa? Am I to believe that the earth was repopulated from the Middle East?

None of this is really all that important. The answers won't fundamentally change how I feel about the church or about God.
