“This Isn’t The East Coast”

Yesterday I went to Safeway to buy a couple of bottles of wine to give as a thank you‘s - one to the folks invited me to use their neighbor’s deck to take photos and the other to have in case I need another thank you.

I picked this wine from Dave Matthews’ California winery (Blenheim is his winery in Albemarle County).

As I approached the checkout, I realized I had left my license in my truck. I don’t look young, but I’ve gotten used to places that “card” everyone. I sheepishly asked the checker (is that the right word?) if I needed my ID. She got a big smile on her face and said. ”This isn’t the east coast.”

We both laughed.
