This headline appeared on Reuters. The changes he wants are for DeSantis to moderate his positions -/ the one cited in the article is regarding abortion.
I'm no fan of DeSantis. I believe he has demonstrated a temperament that is illsuited for the President if the United States. Slit the throats? Come on, man.
But that's not my number 1 problem with the subject of the article. This guy gave $20 million yo a DeSsntis super PAC and apparently that gives him the right -- or he thinks it does -- to tell DeSantis what yo do. Is that not a elitist position? Isn't that what the GOP rails against these days??
We need to get money out of politics. He need to get rid of lobbyists. I wish one politician would have the cojones to advocate for those positions.
All terrific ideas. another thought for consideration to reduce the influence of money in elections is to limit the amount of time political campaigning. less time = less money spent.
I agree with you on the role of money in politics, particularly from billionaires with agendas. George Soros is a big donor. Mark Zuckerberg reportedly spent $400 million in the 2020 campaign. Sheldon Adelson was also a big donor. There are many more - Gates, Buffet, and others. Add to that the impact of the billions Big Pharma, and other big corporations, spend on campaign contributions and for advertising on the major news networks.
The pharmaceutical industry essentially funds the major news networks. Its ownership of politicians and the media is one reason we don't hear any questioning of the record profits in the billions Moderna and Pfizer made on Covid vaccines. Think about it. The federal government sp…
