Aiken

May 6, 2022

In the town where I grew up. Hmm -- not sure I grew up here. This is the town where I spent my first 17 years.

Eighth grade at Aiken Prep. Jem (he was from Mississippi and another guy would go into our auditorium during "free period" (230 pm to 330 pm) and would play records. I remember clearly they played Uriah Heep, Jo Jo Gunne and Black Oak Arkansas. Even though they were seventh graders, I thought they were so cool to know about these bands that were not played on the local radio stations. I still don't know how they knew about them.

I was a big fan of the Uriah Heep album; I think it was the first album I ever bought. At Mitchell's in the Mitchell's Shopping Center in Aiken.

This is the best song on the album.

And no, I did not dance.
