the video is an example of providing minimal information which is needed to make a thorough comparison. no information was provided regarding maintenance costs for a train versus a truck. the average cost of a diesel freight engine of $1.6 million, typical railroad car $150,000, as compared to a semi trailer $150,000 (high end). railroad tracks are limited in the locations they exist, roads not so much - so how do you get freight carried on these trains to a given location? the video focused on long haul transportation benefits so it MAY make sense for large volumes transported great distances. for those with more experience in crunching numbers, i would be curious of an analysis based on different scen…
