Greenville, South Carolina
December 20, 2025
It’s 8 AM. I am sitting in the waiting area of a Goodyear repair shop. I was going to call it a lounge, but that would be an overstatement.
Yesterday I was driving from Charlottesville to Atlanta. I noticed a “whirling” sound coming from the front of the Sequoia early in the drive but it would last a few seconds and then stop for upward of two hours. However, when I got to Greenville, South Carolina the noise grew louder and more consistent. It was pretty clear to me that I had a problem that needed to be addressed and that continuing onto Atlanta would not be wise. A call with Lucian and his friend Bentley, a mechanical guru, confirmed to me that I should get a hotel room and get the car checked. Lucian was able to determine where I was located and recommend a hotel and repair shop. Which is how I ended up sitting in this waiting area this morning.
Why do waiting rooms ALWAYS have a tv showing the most inane shows? This morning it is the Today Show. At least it’s not Fox & Friends! With every word spoken by the hosts I feel a correspondingly decrease in my intellect.
Time to go for a walk!
