I have been logging some steps this past week at the beach. Averaging a bit less than the 16-17,000 steps I get playing 18 holes of golf but I don’t usually walk this much so consistently. I have in the past, just not the recent past.

Why do I walk at the beach? Obviously I am not the only person who does it. It reminds me of my father. I don’t have many memories of him, but I do recall he walked a lot when we were at the beach. Mostly alone if I remember right.

So is my beach walking genetic? Learned behavior from my father? Another reason? Maybe it is just because it feels relaxing, especially in the early morning and in the evening. Afternoon walks are not as much fun with the sun beating down.
