Came across a gentleman just now who was walking his dog. He (the man, not the dog) was wearing a very tired looking W&L hat. I asked about it, and he confirmed he had gone there back in the day. I told him I am from Charlottesville and went to UVa. I asked him about the possible name change of W&L. He said he hoped all this stuff would blow over soon. He explained he’d had a history professor at W&L named Jefferson Davis Futch III, and we laughed at how you could never name your child that these days. The photo above is of Mister Futch.
