Today I wandered my way westward from West Memphis, AK to the outskirts of Paris, AK. I’m spending the night in Russellville, broke down and got a hotel room due to the cold and rain. What a wimp.
As too many of these secondary and tertiary road drives have been, this one was sorrowful. Too many broke down towns. America is not too beautiful in lots of places.
I was buoyed by a coincidence though as I drove through Augusta, AK. Playing on the radio was Gladys Knight and the Pips singing “Midnight Train to Georgia.” What a song. I found myself dining the Pips’ lyrics. And I sounded awesome!
