What Would Others Experience?

End Of The Day

June 3, 2022

Most days on my wanderabout I wonder about reality. That is, the reality I perceive compared to the reality someone sitting in my passenger seat would perceive. At the end of the day, if we sat down and compared notes, how different would our notes be?

I think the answer is “very.” Which fascinates me. I try hard to keep my head on a swivel so that I am aware of what is around me. Yet, I know that if my eyes are drawn to an interesting sign, a travel companion might not even see the sign and be engaging their sense of smell.

Knowing that, not only is my head on a swivel, I ask myself “what am I missing in this experience?”

When I was younger, the difference in perception bothered me — why didn’t I see/hear/smell/feel that, too? Now I just think it is cool that we each more than likely take away different “things” from what one could consider a shared experience.
