I think the above link will take you to an article and video about how Las Vegas is dealing with the drought in the southwest. The video is well done.

I note that the majority of the Colorado River water is used for agricultural. While cutting residential use is important, I think where we are really going to feel the drought is in the availability and cost of the crops grown in California.
