Why is it that some organizations have names that mislead as to what they stand for? This organization is not about freedom. It is about inflicting their values on everyone. Somehow they think they know all and those who don’t agree with them are bad people.
I get it. Some people and organizations are against gay rights (like this one). But if the organization is about freedom as it’s name says, shouldn’t it be support of the freedom to be who you are?
Marriage and child rearing are best in a loving situation. Love is the key.
Change is hard.
One facet of the issue is really defined by which restrictions, if any, are considered acceptable in a society. Some desire to limit a marriage to a man and a woman. Some desire the limits to be between two consenting adults. Some others advocate for even greater flexibility. So the issue is really how will a society define those limitations, if any. I don't think the topic is limited to restrictions supported by those of the Christian faith as Islam imposes similar restrictions. Another facet involves the concept of the necessity of marriage in general terms. those of religious faith and no obvious religious faith have dissolved marriages. those of religious faith and no obvious religious faith have procreate…
But you seem to be missing the meta-point -- "rights" are bestowed upon us from God, not from government. Any rights bestowed by government can just as easily be taken away, therefore they are NOT rights in any substantive meaning . . . they are merely permission to tolerate our individuality. I do not know any "rights" that Alliance Defending Freedom tries to deny "gay folks", and, if there are some, I'd love to know what they are.
ADF is merely the voluntary association of people who desire to safeguard our rights -- primarily religious rights -- from government encroachment. If ADF is doing anything different from that, please let me know!
Yes, but some of us DO support that organization. We do recognize that, to have a truly free society, there must be shared values and mores so that we restrain ourselves from the anarchy of following our impulses and baser natures & instincts. Freedom should not include the governmental sanction of hedonism, gluttony, and the five other deadly vices -- they don't need to be supported and enforced by governmental dictates....
