It was a scary day to live a quarter mile from the protest. Helicopter circling overhead and the noise like the protestors were just down the street (they were). I’m sorry I didn’t have the courage then to get involved. To this day, Ms. Heyer’s death rattles me. Senseless. The memorial service they had for her overflowed the Paramount and the Jefferson. It was very moving.


I walk down the street the city named for her, and I remember her encouragement to pay attention. We can each make a difference if we just step up and get invoked. Hopefully in my own way I am on the playing field now.
